Putting the Left side knuckle back together, and the Birfield has what seems like a lot of play in it compared to the passenger side.

I don't know the tolerances, but while you had it apart did you switch the outer ends across the vehicle, left to right. If that hasn't been done before it will gain you some life. I just did this on mine during the rebuild this weekend. They went from having the slightest amount of tick tock to line to line fit. The wear on the drive side was very noticeable vs the coast side.
