Hi I have a 76 fj40 and I just recently got some 35's and I do not have a lift I was wondering if it is possible to make them fit without much of a lift at all. The body is rusty so cutting it is not a very big deal to me. I just don't know what to do I really like the look of huge tires without much of a lift.

On my stock suspension, 32s have clipped the rear quarter panel and buckled it, so I think the quick answer is no, you can't run 35s without a lift of some sort, or at the very least mint condition stock.

Or at the very least fender cutouts. Mine had 33's and stock springs with extended shackles in the back and it was sufficient. Put the OME's on and 33 9.50's with stock steelies and have to make the time to weld on the fender cutout repair panels from real steel.

I'm running 39.5's with about 2.5" lift.

But my fenders are missing in the front and the rear wheel wheels have been brought up to the Top of the tub.

I guess you could put the tires on, cut out as much metal as you can, or are willing to, and at that point add some lift or put in bump stops. If you took the fenders or some metal tech tube fenders to the top of the aprons, flush with the hood and cut the rear up to the top of the wheel wells, a bigger tire will definitly fit not sure if a 35 will go in there though.

35" tires with no lift is asking alot. I also think the width of the tire would also be a problem.I currently have a 2 1/2 " Rancho lift on my 78 40 and ran 33" x12.5" super swamper tsl's that rubbed the inner rear fenderwell. I had to adjust my steering stops in the front ,and used a 3/8" spacer behind the rims on all four corners to have a little more clearance from rear fenderwells and tie rod ends in front. I'm ditching the rancho set up and have a 4" HFS suspension to go with the narrow 34" super swampers mounted on stock steel rims ready to go.By the way this is a great site ,been a vouyer for to long . It is addicting though. Me also a rookie.

2.5 in backspace rims help a lot.

Anything can be done. It all depends on how much you are willing to cut.

Guy in our club runs 39's on stock leafs. Lot's of bodywork to make it work.
He has the inners in rear almost up to the top of the tub, and they are wider.
Rig works really well.

This is stock springs cut all the way to the wheel well. These are 33x10.5 with 3.5 offset. The tire did not rub on speed bumps and I never went offroad like this. I went straight home to install a lift. It was extremely close to the support rail under the fender.

I Would say no.

Maybe if you flip the rear springs and run an extended shackle front and rear. And run 15x8 with 2.5 offset

Maybe...

If I flip the rear leaf springs will my stock drive shaft be long enough or would i have to extend it?

Most likely you would have to extend
