Looking good. Really good!

So I’m getting tired of my 35”s. I feel like I’m towing a small trailer around town. Highway speed is no problem. I really need help deciding from those who have experience running these sizes I’m interested in below. My current tire is KO2 35x12.50/18 on Method 18x9 +18offset w/stage 6 3.0 Icons. They actually fit pretty well(trimmed a little metal and plastic) except at full right turn and love the big tire look and added lift. They just hit the LCA and KDSS at full turn. My current choices are Cooper at3 XLT 305/65/18 or 295/70/18. I drive pavement 95% of the time.

Thanks in advance

I a seriously considering the Nitro 4.30 upgrade but have heard some complaints of metal particles which could be related to install but it might just be better to drop to a bit more manageable size.

tires are cheaper than gears for sure. it’s a use case thing. If your use case doesn’t need 35s then a nice 33” is a fine solution. All that said my older tranny liked gears on the 33s too. Newer tranny probably ok with 33s. There is at least one 275/70/18 AT that is pmetric

I have run 275/70/18 with my previous MY15 200 but I had 1.25” spacers and fuel anza wheels which made the tires look a bit wider. Without spacers, they may look skinny with my 9” wheels I’m betting. As to why I’m wondering which tire I asked about would be the better choice to give my kdss a little more room

The 305/65R18 should be fine, as well as the 295/70 or even 285/70. All seem to sit in that 33.5-34.5" x 11-12" range. For the most weight and rubbing savings yet still keeping pretty much the same height as the 305/65R18, the 285/70R18 would be a good fit. The 295/70R18 is almost a 35" but narrower.

I personally am considering either the 285/75R17 (33.9 x 11.2) vs 315/70R17 (34.4 x 12.4) once I get a lift sorted out.

I would do 285/70/18 but they only come in Mud tires from what I’ve found.

Nitto Ridge Grappler is the most popular A/T tire around here, and it comes in a 285/70R18.

I didn’t know that! I will check it out...thanks👍🏻👍🏻

Anyone have experience with the Nitto ridge grappler? How is it on the highway and in heavy rain?

I'm looking to do the same. Been on the fence with wheels but would like to put these in 34 on my stock LC wheels. Matt ran the 34 and 35 but went back to 34s. Then added Bora spacers and seemed to work well.

I'm sitting on 305-65/18's and the spare does in fact fit in the stock location. Currently BFG KO2's, but will probably go to a Exo Grappler - the BFG's were HORRIBLE on ice.

@Angelo1 - had Ridge Grapplers on my '17 4Runner and loved them. No issues in heavy rain nor snow.

Yep, I have them in the 285/70/18, and they're great. I had the KO2s on before, and I think the Nittos are a better tire all around. Very quiet on the highway and awesome in the rain. I always get pissed at people doing 40 when it's raining, when I'm ready to go 70. :)

What is your mpg with 305/65/18? Did you re gear your rig? Nice rig btw
I don't track it too much - living in Tahoe, I don't drive all that much as everything is pretty close and I loathe going to Reno. Last time I did a back of the envelope calc I came up with around 12.5 mpg - but she's a heavy truck (full rock skids/sliders/rear swing away carrier, Gobi, front bumper/winch, aux tank, etc) and also regeared to accommodate the tires - went with 4.30s. Knew what I was getting into when I bought/built it - a highway comfortable, off road capable, roomy dog hauling SUV that wasn't fuel efficient.
