Is anyone thinking of driving up the night before or is everyone taking off early Sunday morning ?

Im thinking of leaving the night and spending the night in big bear.

As of right now myself and Cruiserruf are heading up on Saturday and camp the night. I don't know where yet, but we will camp for sure.

How difficult is this run going to be? I'd like to attend but Im pretty new at wheeling and I don't wanna embarrass myself by being THAT GUY getting stuck everywhere. my rig doesn't have lockers. I have a ome 2.5" lift, slee sliders, and should be picking up some new 33s tomorrow but I'm concerned about If this might be too advanced for someone like myself with no experience.

might have a little hard time without at least one locker, but other than i think you'll be able to do it. nick (SDTLC80) and i have ran this trail before with open diffs and managed to finish through. tough without lockers. there will be plenty of people there to help you get by though. i think this will be a great way to learn.

Hey Shakotankei. I don't know what you're level of tolerance (getting through rocks) is but Ruf is right.
This will be a great way to learn what you can and can't do without lockers. I haven't wheeled in awhile but when I did - my lockers were always a crutch for me - still a new guy at wheeling like you.

Always flipped that magic button on without thinking if I really needed it. When I could've just aired down a bit more or took a better line. I learned the more wheeling is done.

If you have nothing to do that day, go. Ruf is a good guy and the group is small enough to see you through. You have sliders and t-case skid plates right!

Yup slee tcase and step sliders. I have an aussie locker in my plans but i wanted to wheel once without so could see the difference after i get my rear locker. I just wanted to make sure this run would be ok to "pop my cherry" as ive just been converting my dads mall cruiser. I haven't really had a chance to really play with it. Picked up some km2s from some dude in tustin today are im getting them mounted. My dad had a brand new set of street tires :( put on previously but id rather have what i can stacked in my favor to make up for my inexperience.

I will be driving up Sunday morning from North San Diego County. If anyone from the San Diego area wants to caravan, I will be entering 15 north at 6:30ish.

holcomb valley campgrounds seems close to both trails. second option is tanglewood campground, right at the end of gold mountain.

allan, you need to come out and play with us!!

looking forward to this run!

Hey Ruf!
I thought hard about this run but my 80 needs work on the front axle - birfs, bearings, and rotors/pads. They're on borrowed time brother!!!!!

Holcomb is a great camp site, they are first come first serve but if you can I recommend the back row that looks out onto the open forest.
