where are you located? just curious as i'm in davis and have never seen your rig around

Thanks bro!

She's at hanlees Toyota in Davis today for new fuel tank, and they just called and said they had the wrong tank, so I won't get her back till tomorrow... :(

Well that's about "PAR FOR THE COURSE". Betsy will like the new tank... An extra day, but well worth the wait IMO.

Im in Dixon. In and about Davis every Sunday and drive thru on commute most other days....

J- I think she'll like it too. I'm not sweating the extra day, was just hoping to do some stuff to her tomorrow is all... Guess maybe I'll go work an extra shift or something instead now, gotta help fund the addiction!

Just documenting before I do springs:
Current ground to fender:
LF - 34"
LR - 32.5
RF - 34.25
RR - 33

If they haven't installed your tank already, remember to tell them to NOT drain and reuse your old gas. No point in saving $10 if it means bringing 20 years worth of sediment and nasties from the old tank into the new one.

Beautiful truck by the way. Is the rest of your frame as clean as it looks in the first shots of the rear bumper?

Thanks J! I just posted the after shots in the tank recall thread! Hopefully they didn't pour any really nasty stuff back into the tank!! But I was thinking of doing a fuel filter change just in case they put a bunch of stirred up nasties in there!!

I did some cleanup on the rear frame when attaching the rear bumper, so, it's not all that clean, yet!! But it is a Cali cruiser, so it's only got surface issues...

New tank and the parts list:

Well, I haven't snapped any pics, but have been wrenching on the lift... Got the rear springs on and all lined up, cleaned up the mounting plates and hardware and painted it all. Also the perch on the axle. I'm reusing the hardware cuz I'm a cheap bastid and I figure it's good to go! (MAF's write up on one of their install instructions (SR I think) says inspect and reuse if hardware looks good) I got the pass side all buttoned up before I ran out of time today, so I will button up the driver side doing to axle tomorrow and throw the rear wheels back on!! Looking like about 4-6" higher!!!

I used my old hardware before without a problem, but my new build wasn't so lucky... Had to use all new stuff. My OME settled about an 1"- 1 1/4" after a bit of wheeling.

Finny, do you still use that factory spare tire carrier.

J

Good to know.
Sure don't! You want?

Haha! Good point! I ha it tucked up tight before... Darn dealer! J/K.

Got the rear springs buttoned up today.
Now:
RR - 39.5
LR - 38.5

And this is on a slanted driveway!

Current are BFG AT 32x10.50 or 11.50, I forget off top of my head. May go to a tire that actually measures 33" or 34", but not sure yet. Always liked the idea of 35's but not sure.... Mmmm.... Suggestions please!

After my springs settled a little, OME Heavy/Heavy

RR 39.00"
LR 38.75"

These measurements are with the rear bumper with tire carrier, ladder, and fuel can rack.

I have 33" x 10.5" I like the look and the non-rub issue. I'd think that the fronts might rub a little too much for my taste with 35".

J

That sounds just about where I want to be. Less rubbing the better!

Well, time for some PO bashing!! Look what I found under my front wheels when I pulled them to start removing front springs:

And prob the culprit for some of my rough ride/suspension:

Exactly!
Not sure about BS. Will measure in the morning. Only fix a spacer at this point?
(I gotta laugh at this cuz it's something I woulda done on my heep(first build ever)!! ;)
