Nice work so far , like the rear bumper. I just hope those are your karate pants being used for a tarp and not the flag.

Definitely not the flag!!! My apologies for it even looking like it. Its a big heavy canvas tarp the shop was using: I would of had a conniption fit of had been our Flag!

Would y'all recommend self etching primer recommended for metal or some plastic primer (only came in clear) to be used on the plastic pieces? I am going to use the self etching on the metal bits...

Well, I figure I deserve no answer since I put it in my build thread instead of as a question thread! :flipoff2:

Anywho, I went with dupli-color self etching primer, came as olive greenish... And I am top coating with dupli-color engine enamel in low-gloss black (DE1634).. I used it on the rear bumper and will be touching up the roof rack as needed with it, so I figured keep it all the same (may even start buying this stuff by the case...)

I also pulled a d$&@he move and took no pics at paint shop today when they called and had me come by and give final approval (pay :$ ) !!! Damn Betsy be looking sexy too!!! All they have to do is buff out some clear drips once it all cures, then my glass guy (AA pro auto glass in sacto) will be installing brand new glass and seal sans lock strip!!

So, here is some porn for ya:

My helpers hard at work prepping (not counting kid distractions, prep took me about 6 hours!!)

Uppity update!!! I got Betsy back today!!! And boy does she turn me on! I definitely only got what i paid for (she'll never win Miss Teq) but I plan on using her and not looking at her! :steer:

I didn't have a chance to start putting the trim back on, but here are the down and dirty after shots!! Notice the new windshield with NO chrome strip gasket!? :grinpimp:

Very nice Finny, Looks like they did a good job from the pics. I like the solid rubber gasket on the windshield. I tore all of Blue's chrome off and plan to black out everything.

She is gonna look SWEEEEET black and tan.

I like her. We will have to get her and Blue together someday.

Thanks bro. I can't wait to put her back together today after work! And black and tan is one of my favorite drinks too! I see a theme...
I'd be honored to have Blue 2 date her! We are planning a 2 week road trip out to Utah and CO in the fall.... :mmm:

Not much accomplished, but at least here is something...

I've been lurking in your thread and your doing a bang up job! Way to pull the little ones into it too. That body work and paint job turned out fantastic. ;)

I LIKE HER ALOT FINNY! This is what I have planned for Blue Marley. Im curious as to how the regular paint will hold up on the door handles.

Betsy is looking AWESOME dude.

J

Thanks bro! Means a lot coming from someone with actual skills!
I went with the paint right now due to budget, and will go with powder if it breaks down too fast, otherwise I will just repaint...

Cheers bro! The little guys are always asking now "are we going to work on your truck daddy!?" :)
I am really happy with the paint and body for what it is. Good enough to look great, and not too nice to :steer:

Finny, you still looking for the passenger front door chrome weatherstrip and etc...?

If so I'll look when I get home.

J

Yes!! please!! It needs to be from a 62 though: I replaced front passenger door with what turns out to be a 62 door and the slots at the top of the exterior panel that the trim clips into are different between the 60 and 62. :bang:

Bummer. No worries bro, thx for offer. The 60 ones have slots along the top for trim to clip into, but the 62 door has the slots around the "corner" more on the inside and prob takes just different clips or possible whole different design of trim.
