best time to check oil (1 Viewer)

What is the best way to check oil - hot, warm, cold etc. I am thinking 15 minutes or so after driving a few miles

Makes no difference.

It is not going to expand so much as to give you an erroneous indication on the stick when it is hot.


I check it before I start it up.

If you check it before you start it up, there isnt any oil splashed up inside the dipstick tube to give you a funky reading.
