Which JDM series have the best OEM or after-market parts available in Canada?

Folks let me jump the gun here, and correct me if I'm wrong, but here is my take:

From what I noticed, JDM 80 series Landcruisers share pretty much the same body parts with the american 80 series. The other vehicles, I don't know much but I'm told the HiLuxes have quite a few parts available locally and there are many similarities with 4Runners. As for the 60 series, well apart from the high roof and a few minor differences (including dash of course!), no problem there, a 60 is a 60 is a 60, should be even easier to get parts... I don't know about the lesser models such as the 70s...

For the rest, Toyotas of different years and brands usually share quite a few parts between each other.

But to answer your question, depending on where you are, you are either going to have an easy time or a hard time to get parts. I'm in Quebec and it's NOT EASY HERE. If you're out west, you should be able to find parts easy, this is where most JDMs are located.

The JDM HJ60 would be the closest to a CDM model except for the steering on the other side. ALthough I am not sure about parts availablity now from CDN Toyota dealers

I'd say HZJ7x series are pretty close to being the easiest and cheapest to get parts for if you know the right people. The mining industry uses the 75's and 79's now so just about everything is available ie brake, drivetrain, engine, front clip and doors, windshields etc etc. The only diff is the 24v and 12v. But that's what G and S is for - and there are other options as well.

The 80 series is pretty good now, but I am not sure about all the little engine bits and pieces that wouldt be the same as CDM models - might have to wait for something to come from Japan. Although, there are some importers on the west coast who have a pretty good selection of parts now - and G and S of course.

Bottom line is that you can get just about anything you want if you can search the internet and use a phone.

I have a surf & a hilux pu

all bodyparts are interchangeable as well as interior , and also drivetrain ..I use 85toy as a guide for parts for my hilux ..even "some" of the 2l diesel will swap.

exceptions ofcourse are RHD specific like steering ,dashpad

I would say they have the best for interchangability.

I have a Nissan Safari (AKA Patrol) which was only available in NA in the 1960s so I'm pretty much SOL with the exception of some parts that are found in Pathfinders and LCs. Like the LCs, the Safari is 24V. Nissan is well known or using the same parts in various vehicles - so there may be more cross over than I am aware of.

For the Nissans your best bet is the Terrano which is essentially a RHD Pathfinder with a diesel engine. There is also the 3.0 L RHD Terrano which has the same motor as the the Pathfinder.

As far as the fuel system goes, you can get pretty much anything you need from a decent fuel injection shop.
