Best Auto transmission to mate with a Cummins 6BT Diesel

I have a 97 VX Limited located in the United States
I'm wanting to swap out my gas engine for a cummins 5.9 6BT diesel.
What is the best Automatic transmission to mate with the Cummins and connect to the stock Toyota transfer case?

You should talk to landcruiserPhil and cjmoon. They’ve gone on from the stock auto to 6l80’s. Or at least one has and the other is possibly in the process.

Edit: there is an 80 locally to me that has a 4bg1t and the A343 and it runs splendidly. But the 6bt may be too much. I can’t remember if there was one running around on a VE pump, but a turned up p-pump would probably cause issues with the TC lockup. That seemed to be where the two referenced above has issues.

What are your goals for the vehicle ?

I want the better power in torque for on road and especially off-road driving I live full-time in my motorhome and I tow it behind it as I traverse this country I find the 4.5 under powered.
