Best Apple Carplay radio for 98 LX470?

Looking for a reliable one that stays consistently working. Been reading reviews of even the good names and man they are going bad or not connecting or have black screens within months. Any real life experience here with ones you all recommend that won’t need to be removed back out within a year or two? Thanks!

I guess I care about that as well. I am a bit of a brand snob, and am always wary of the Chinese brands with which some have had good luck. I have an Alpine ixl-w650. No complaints. Alpine also has the small amps that you can attach to the back, which may help, depending on situation.

Feel ya on the brand loyalty part, I have a coworker that is older than I and he doesn’t mind just dropping “throw away” money on cheap electronics and if it doesn’t work right he just junks it.

I’m more the thought of do a little research and go put your hands on a unit if possible and purchase it locally if possible.

Best buy at the absolute worst, heck even research on Crutchfield and find some specs you want/need.

I went with nakamichi again haha. NA6605 has usb in front and 18 inch usb in back. Car play and cd player. Two other people vouched for the same model on Facebook group in their LX and that they have had no issues whatsoever for two years now since they got it. 2022 is when it came out also and a buddy of mine installs stereo units for nfl players and stated it’s a great choice. Usually $350 usd which it is now again but I snatched it up for $120 with a crazy sale. Anyway I had my harness made with 22 pin LX connector so don’t have to cut into the factory connector or harness. And I can easily upgrade units again later if I want to because I’ll have this adapter harness to work with and never have to touch factory wires and connector. FYI crutchfield or no one else in world makes one for early years lx470 with nakamichi 6 cd system, I have 99 LX.

Who made the harness? Just came across this headunit and will likely go with it for my 2000.
