Bench seat swap for fj62

Hey,

Just new to the forum. Love all the info on here. Purchased a 1988 FJ62 with a 3B swap, two weeks ago. I'm hooked - what an awesome rig.

Have a quick question... I have a friend who is being "won over" to the Cruiser cult too, but has a family of 6. Has anybody done a bench seat swap for the front on a FJ 62? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I've never seen or heard of anyone doing a front bench seat. I'm sure it could be done. However, you can purchase factory third row seats from SOR (I think). They fold up when you arn't using them so they are not in the way when hauling stuff in the back.

I think In2Cruisers has a front bench seat in his 60.

Thanks guys - I think there is a 3rd row seat available, but want to be able to keep the cargo space in the back for trips etc.

I don't know about a bench seat up front in a 62. Doesn't the heater frame and tranny hump stick up too far for this to be practical? In any case, the middle pasenger up front wouldn't be comfortable past age 6 or so.

Wouldn't 86 or older FJ60 rear heater work. They were mounted under the passinger's seat right? Also I think a 40/60 front seat was available in other markets around the world.

Yep, front benches were definitely available in certain markets. Not sure what years. There have been a few for sale from time to time, and I imagine it wouldn't take too much craziness to build one. Not for me, for an interior/fab skilled person.

One of my 60's had a bench in it. I have since sold the bench and the 60.

Thinking of getting a 60...would the bench seat from a 2011 standard cap Tundra fit? I like this seat because A, it is new, and B, it has a seat belt for the middle person.

Any other newer bench seat, with a center 3 point belt?
