I did a search yesterday of both 80s and Diesel sections for beep and beeping. Initially I thought my beeping problem was from the sunroof. But it's not - see my post-analysis report (Post #8) in the Diesel forum. https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tech-24-volts-systems/271262-warning-beep.html

I have the beep when I'm reversing (ok for me - been like that).
I have the normal 8 beeps when sunroof is tilted and key is off.
I have no beep when the sunroof is open and key is off.
I have no beep when headlight is on and key is off (ok for me - been like that).
I have no beep when door is open and key is off. (ok for me - been like that)

But I just recently got the beep when I put key from ON to OFF position with the sunroof/headlight/doors closed.

Are there other "beep" sources in the 80s?

What beeps? err What gives?

Shot in the dark but what gear do you have it in when this happens? Dome lights maybe?

What kind of stereo do you have? I was going crazy awhile back trying to figure this same thing out once, when someone mentioned it was my jvc deck alerting me that the faceplate was not removed.
The only other beeps I am aware of are the backup warning, and my aftermarket turbo timer. I have no warning sounds about the sunroof.

This wasn't my 80 but I had a '75 Imapla once with a JVC and that thing annoyed me to no end with the faceplate warning.

I'm park when the beep occurs.
I have a Pioneer with a detachable faceplate. I'll check this out later and report back. Maybe there's a setting in the radio regarding this warning. Two weeks ago I replaced my two batteries - so all previous radio seetings have been erased. Hopefully this is the culprit. Thanks for the lead!

The culprit is the detachable faceplate. I reset the settings on the radio to OFF and now the beep its gone.

Thanks a lot to the forum. Another mystery solved.
