bed replacement

Does anyone know if I can put a bed off of a 81 long bed onto the frame of a 79 long bed? The 79 is pretty beat up and the 81 is in good shape, so I'd like to swap them out, but they are different legnths. I cant tell if the bolt holes will line up with out trying them. Its going to be a major job by myself, so any help before hand would be great.

Find a FSM for both years and they will list frame/mount dimensions. There is a site somewhere where you can access any FSM for a daily fee.

As far as i know they are the same, you must have good luck finding a decent box.
