Hey guys.. Newbie here..but I was replacing my BEB on my HDT this Sat. and when I went to re-torque the bolts to 76lbs plus a 90 the bolts just kept stretching out on me and eventually would have broke had I not noticed that something was up. I was having to turn these things way too many times to get them to spec. I figure my BEB were done once before as they looked really good while I was pulling them out. Anyway I need a new set of bolts.. and idea as to where I can get them?? how much... please help... Darren

We are spread all over the world on this forum so telling us where you are,or adding your locality to your signature, will bring a quicker more accurate response.

is it 27ft/lbs plus a 90 degree turn or just 27ft/lbs?? thanks

Darren:

If you've over-torqued the rod bolts attempting to get them to 76 ft-lbs, make sure that you replace them !!!

i have to agree with Jim, if you have already over torqued the bolts then replace them...
it is 27 lbs PLUS 90 degree turn...

new bolt on there way.. thanks guys..

I would check that the caps are on right, if I remember correctly you need to put them on in the right orientation, otherwise they won't torque properly . . .

I could be wrong, my memory is . . . well, bad.

jdm I pm'd you.. thanks

Parts are ordered. Coming from the US. About $32 for the 4. Lets hope these are the right ones this time. Because the ones in the pictures below would be hard to torque with a round head.

I was able to order the parts from I guy I know at Screamin Paintworks
(403) 291-3171 in Calgary. They were about $8 per bolt, but they should be the real Toyota bolts. He said that they were coming from the U.S. and should be here within the week. He is also able to get oil/fuel filters, and more. If your in Calgary give him a call... and thanks agan for the help guys... oh yeah...also sold the 85 4runner today too...

Well 3 1/2 weeks later, but I am finally on the road!! Got the new bolts and everything torqued up...added all of the oil, and we are off to the races.

Special thanks to Dan at Screamin' Paintworks who was able to get the propper bolts for me and put up with all of my calls to check on the bolts too!!!

If your in Calgary and need any parts call Dan... He knows what he's talking about and can get lots of stuff too. Screamin' Paintworks (291-3171)
