I am looking at some bead locks that are for sale but I don't know much about beadlocks. They are back set 3.25 inches. They were on an fj80. Should I imagine that that is the same as what my wagon wheels that I have? How do I measure bAckspaceing?

Thanks for any advise!

Take your wheel off and lay it down with the inside of the tire facing up. Take a straight edge and lay it across the middle on the rim edge. Measure the distance from mounting plate to straight edge.

3.5" is typically stated to be the OE backspacing, so 3.25" should work on an 8" wheel. Would be same from mounting surface on +8" wheels, but they may not work for other reasons.

That said....

Why do you need bead locks?

Are you wheelin' the pig hard enough to dislodge the bead?

Have you tires with a soft enough sidewall to benenfit from 12psi or less?

For the most part, in my experience WITH tires that WERE capable of 4-6psi, on a heavy ass Cruiser that DID tip toe through the rocks, the heavy bead locks (and 37" Krawlers) weren't worth it. At least on anything that's expected to spend much time on road.
