BCC Sept 5 Meeting

EDIT: date is the fourth, not fifth as I mistyped above. That's Sept 4.

Same as last month: meeting at Mesa County Fairgrounds near the ball fields. Wednesday Sept 4 at 6:30 under one of the covered pavilions. The club will grill burgers and dogs (please bring a donation to cover the food). If you would like to bring chips or a dish to pass that would be welcome, but not necessary.

We will have some recent trip reports from Ace and John. Also discussing planned trips such as Cruiser Fest, Battlement Mesa and Grand Staircase/Escalante Nat Monument in mid October. Doug and I did GSENM two years ago and I felt there was a lot left unexplored. This will be a trip similar to this springs Swell trip, a different camp each night, but without the bitter cold. One road I must find was listed in "Ten Best Dirt Roads in the Southwest"

Well only Galen, Dave, Mitch and I showed. So we sat around enjoying a few cold ones, eating pretzels and chips and wondering what happened to Jonathan and the food. We hope nothing serious has befallen our prez.

Items of discussion were where to hold our next meeting and Dave offered to look into Garfield's and Mitch was going to check on another. We must find a place that has a true private dining/meeting area that is actually quiet. I'm not the only one with weak hearing.

We also discussed future trips. Galen proposed a trip to Hole-in-the-Rock in early October. I hope to do a trip to Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in mid to later October.

Mitch discussed his neat Safari trip to South Africa coming up soon. I guess not much off-roading but more a photo safari where they camp in lion proof enclosures each night. So cool!

Thanks for the synopsis Ace. Looks like it was a productive meeting. Sorry to leave everyone hanging with especially with no food. Was home unexpectedly with two sick kids.

Great trips coming up, if I can facilitate some emails to the club please let me know. Depending on schedule, I'd love to hit SE UT in October. Best time of year to be out there.

Galen had to cancel plans for Hole in the Rock due to unexpected house repairs so I'm going ahead with plans for Grand Staircase Ecalante NM and starting a new thread.
