So I just got a new battery. Went with the X2Power Extreme Group 31 from batteries plus.

The terminal posts are further in from the sides though and I had to rig it up temporarily while I was there to get it connected. Anyone else running this battery? Any recommendations on the hardware I should get to make the install look cleaner?

Also, being that I got my LC last week from a dealer, do you guys think there's any point in contacting them regarding the battery? I'd guess it'll go nowhere but probably couldn't hurt. The sales manager did leave me a message on Friday asking how everything was going...

I had batteries plus run a diagnostic test and email it to me. It was reading 155 CCA (surprised it was turing over to be honest). Figured it may help my case if I had the test results to provide them.

our factory Toyota bats are 700 CCA

I think Slee sells a main battery bracket for the type 31 that includes extensions for the posts. Markuson did a good write up on it.

Thanks, I had seen the kit but wasn't sure if extensions were part of it. Thought it may have just been the tray and bracket. May have to get that.

Would certainly look a lot prettier than this.

Hmm, I'm wondering if there are no "official" specifications for marine battery posts relative to their location on the battery and manufacturers can just do as they please (unlike car batteries which are pretty specific). Odyssey posts are very different and probably could have been made to work with post adapters.

^^^^This. There is no standard terminal location. Don't assume the Slee tray comes with terminal adapters that will work, since it is made for the Interstate 31 AGM battery. You'll end up having to buy adapters for any battery you get other than the 27F size with terminals in the OEM location. You can find adapters of all sorts at an auto parts store or on Amazon, but I know from experience that the deep cycle 31 batteries will need some extra effort on your part.

For what is it worth, I have the same battery as OP and my Slee group 31 tray came with military connectors that worked well.

Here is mine -

Slee Group 31 kit with the Odyssey 31-PC2150T (not 31M that has both the threaded studs and SAE terminals - that looks like it would work without the extensions)

If it works, leave it alone! I have seen uglier girls at closing time!

A week old vehicle?? The dealer will most likely give you a battery. Also fwiw, if you go oem, the battery has a 2yr warranty with towing to the nearest dealer, should the no start issue be the oem battery causing it.

Unfortunately the dealership is 5 hours away otherwise I would have gone back....However I did speak with the sales manager. He told me to email him the receipt and they'd take care of it. Wonder if he'll take exception to the price being $340.

Also ordered the Slee tray. I know it works as is but I just want it done properly.

In case the sales manager doesn't want to cover the whole cost, does anyone know the suggested price at a Toyota dealership for the oem 27F battery?

Last July I paid $121 for the 84 month version of the True Start 27F at my dealer.
