I am about to purchase my first rc car. I have choosen the HPI Racing, Crawler King to get my feet wet.

The battery and charger need to be ordered also. Not knowing the run time for these batteries, would it be better to order two standard batteries so one can always be in a charge state? or one super battery that runs for how long, I don't know at four times the expense?

Thanks for your input!

I don't know a lot about the crawler king, but I would see what type of battery the esc will support and if it supports lipo, then I would definitely go that route if the budget allows. I went lipo on my honcho, 3s 4500 mah I think, i will double check for you, running a 35t via a tekin esc and I have yet to run it down while playing. Since a crawler uses the power very differently, if you go lipo you will get some crazy run times on it. If you do go lipo make sure you get a quality charger.

Let's see some pics when you get it running

my opinion would be two smaller ones at least. Electronics do need a chance to cool and having more packs that are smaller will give you at least a few minutes to take the battery out, and put another one in.

true about the lipo. Get a good quality charger with balancing ability and you will keep your batteries in good shape for a longer time. But, you also need to make sure your speed controller can handle the lipo. Some dont.

Thanks for the imput, I will keep this in mind.
