Curious to see if anyone has found a clean replacement for the OEM Fog lights on their 200 Series. I have a 2018 LC and would love to swap out to a more powerful LED lighting option.

** It's going to bother that I mispelled Rigid in the thread title. If anyone knows how to edit that, let me know! **

Nice!

...Except I hate when u blank out your license plate.
-How am I supposed to stalk u now?? :hillbilly:

lol
I have no idea why I did. It just seems to be the thing to do.....

Ya... :) It’s just always struck me funny...since we harmlessly expose our license plates to literally every single driver/passenger & pedestrian everywhere we drive or park.

I haven't seen any drop-in replacements for the LC, though you can probably find some Chinese options on alibaba if you search hard.

I have Rigid square fogs on my aftermarket bumper. They are SAE-compliant and waaaay better than the stock lights. This link from Amazon is pretty close to the truth. They have a nice sharp cut-off

I've seen retrofit kits for the Tacoma or Tundra I think which basically are a plastic blank and you mount the light in front of it with the rear of the housing sticking through the blanking plate. Not flush, not an OEM look, and I have not come across something like that for the LC (though that doesn't mean it doesn't exist).

I've seen the same retrofits for 4runners and Tacos too. Obviously, with the LC being a little less on the demand side, I wouldn't expect to see much. I was hoping someone here might have made something for. Hopefully with the popularity of 3D printers, someone will get creative so I don't have to. I plan to keep the OEM bumpers for a couple years then I'll throw something beefy on it.

I did a little research a while ago because I wanted to drop some rigid or baja designs in there. From what I could tell, the baja designs and rigids were too big by 1/2" diameter. The bajas and rigids are 3.5" diameter while the 200 housings are 3" in diameter.

I had a conversation with Slee on this last week as I was hoping to replace my 2016+ fogs with BD Squadron Pros. Won’t work. Apparently part of the problem is that Toyota changed up the mount with 2016+. I don’t know the particulars but I was told it is different. I then reached out to BD via their FB page. The response I got was that they are not familiar with the 2016+ LC’s. Not helpful. (Probably not the right person.). So I’m not sure where I’m going to go from here.

BTW, the same issue carries over to the 2016+ ARB Summit/Sahara bumper as ARB designed those to work with Toyota’s new mounting system - which doesn’t work with the BD or Rigid lights. Not yet at least.

Also, the fogs on the 2016+ are far better than the earlier OEM fogs. Not what I am hoping for. Not Squadron Pros. But better. I would think that BD and Rigid would be adapting to the new mounting method. I think it is also on the new Tundras.

Anyway, that is the report I got from Slee - which has put my ARB bumper on hold (TJM has the same issue according to Slee).

Thanks, @Cruisin911. I'll have to talk to Slee about this more as they would do any fabrication work. The conversation I had with them last week is around the lack of a horizontal mounting surface on which to mount the auxiliary lights. This is new/different with the 2016+. Actually, the context for me had to do with doing this on an ARB Summit bumper which, for the 2016+ models, has no flat, horizontal surface to mount with OEM fogs or a set of BPs or Rigid alternatives. This is because that bumper (and, I'm told, the corresponding TJM) have accommodated Toyota's new and different mounting technique for their OEM fogs on the 2016+. The jury is still out for me but I'm now going to put it off until after the holidays.

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I'd try to revive this one. This appears to be for a newer model of the 200, but I have the same question for the 2013.

I'm not going to put on a replacement bumper, but I'd like to upgrade my fogs to a Rigid or Baja Designs LED.

Are there any vendors that sell a mask that would allow me to adapt them to the land cruiser stock bumper?

Alternatively, are there any light bars and mounting adapters available that fit in the horizontal slots to the left and right of the license plate?

Most of the ones I've seen that are aftermarket to make the Rigid lights fit are just a black ABS faceplate that's been pre-cut. You could buy a sheet of ABS and cut/dremel a hole to fit.

BTW the Rigid fogs are waaaaaaay better than the Toyota ones. Bright, good cut-off, really light the road. And they're SAE-compliant housing so if "the man" stops you they're street legal (though you still need to aim them correctly of course).

This was done by Jax Motorsports in Upland Ca. His attention to detail is amazing.

I have some takeout 2019's (with a whopping 1298 miles on the rig). I never even switched them on. If the newer model ones are brighter, you are welcome to have mine. Either pickup or cover the shipping and they are yours. I am in the Phoenix area.

Cheers!

Very cool!

Any chance they'd make some more brackets? Could you share a contact? I tried to reach them on facebook.

What model of LED lightbar is that?

Jax Motorsports . Best way is the text. Check some his work on FB. As for the light bar it’s a Vision X SPL 40”. I could not get on website to confirm. The location is perfect. No reflection off the hood. The cut off is a few feet in front of the rig. With IPF high beams it incredible.

This is awesome! I have been interested in something like you have done with your auxiliary fogs. I thought those vents c be a good place to mount some lights but wasn’t sure who to turn to to make it happen. Aside from the mounting, how are they wired/switched?

. sPod mounted to the dash. I did not like the sunglasses mount as it blocked the rear view mirror. As you can see in the pic the screen seems to be floating in the air. Mount can’t be seen. As for a traffic accident making the screen an object that can cause a injury? It’s smaller than a iPhone. It does not interfere with air vents. Window clears just fine. RAM MOUNT is adjustable.
