Backseat Rattle

So im sure im not the only one experiancing this, the back seat rattling in the mechanism (where it locks in when it's up right) what have you doen to fix it. looks like the po put an @$$ load of electrical tape on there but it's worn out over time, any perminent fix's?

mine only rattles when one side or the other isnt in all the way

More Electrical Tape - Cheap and easy and it actually lasts pretty well.

yah electrical tape is the fix..... you might be able to find some thin rubber line you could wrap around it.... but tape is easier.

I second if the back of the seat isn't fully engaged in both brackets it bounces too much.

electrical tape or thin hose slid over or a combination. Tape works the best tho...

Use "pipe wrap" its 3mil thick and sticks real well. No more rattle.

i used a thin piece of plastic and some zip ties.

get the part from cruiser dan, i had the rattle too. it's a little rubber bump stop that slides over a metal tab.

Give Dan a call.

cut a piece of rubber hose in half lengthwise and wrap around back seat stays. keeps em tight and quiet.

I'm cheap, I just fold mine down.

Wasn't there a lot of folks swapping something from a fj62 to fix this issue? I might be thinking of something else, but I'm almost posititve that was the case.

I go the tape route and oil every thing that looks like it can be oiled. When it comes back I turn the radio up for 8 months and then do it again.

Had em all, got em all. The rear seat rattle - tape, but I also bought some heat shrink that will fit over the end - just haven't got it installed yet. My seat also rattles just inside the seat too - something is loose. The rear hatch - first check the panel screws - found mine loose the other day. 2nd, me rear self-unlatches sometimes which is good for an instant squeek. Bob

Thanks for the tips! I also get an annoying squeak that seems to be coming from the steering column. It only happens on harsh bumps and sounds like someone scratching a chalkboard... could never track it down. but it goes away on smooth roads...

What about the Front passenger seat?

In my FJ62 the passenger seat rattles unless there is a body in it. Has anyone experienced this?

If your tailgate or hatch has any play, you can adjust the latch to pull it in tighter against the weatherstripping when it closes. I did this the other day and it fixed my last major rattle.(for now!)

...might also put something behind your license plate so it doesn't slap the tailgate over bumps.

hks is it the shroud cover jobber that encloses the the wheel? mine has wuite a nasty squeek from time to time havn't addressed it other than holdingit from moving tell i hit the freeway.

ummm... seems to come from the actual steering column... but don't know if it's the cover.

the steering column squeek is probably the horn contacts. do a search as it has been covered on Mud a few times....
