Finally after three years of slow evolution i am putting my cruiser back together, got started on the wiring this weekend and tonight I was checking everyting with my multimeter to see if it al got 24v. I just had checked the glowplugs to see if it got 24v wich they did and directly after that I checked if the plugs also got 24v when I cranked the engine. So I pushed the starter button and the engine started up!!! :D Scared me s***less the frist second, since there is no exhaust on it (fawkin loud!!). It hadn't run for over three years, there isn't even a diesel tank in my cruiser at the moment, but there must've been some 3 years old diesel leftover in the diesel pump!

It's a great feeling hearing my cruiser run for the first time in 3 years!!!

congrats.. I can't imagine the noise w/o exhaust ;)

are the glowplugs meant to get 24v?

I just finished with mine, new head, pump etc. Back on track again, and running like a gem. good luck with the build

congrats to the proud new father!!!

My truck is in a similar situation; two years on blocks for a new steel tub. I'll be re-connecting the fuel tank in the next few weeks (as soon as exams are done). What kind of conditions was your truck living under for its three years job? Garaged or outside? What kind of climate do you have? I'm just a little bit worried about corrosion on the cylinder liners and rings of my 3B. I hadn't intended on it being parked for two years, so it didn't get any oil squirted into the cylinders (I know, flame away!).
Anyways, best of luck on the project wrap-up!

Cheers,
Steve

It was garaged, and I'm in a mild climate over here, not too cold not too hot, and lot's of rain! About corrosion and all that, It only ran for like ten seconds, so I don't know if it's still in ok condition.
