71 fj-40 got the axle bearing out after beating , cutting and welding. whats the best way to get the new bearing back in and with what tool , what have u all made or bought to get this thing back in and also whats the best way to get a new race on the axle thanks we have 3 days until we leave for surf an turf and tuesday will be here before know it , thanks again

front or rear? i used a block of wood on the rear.

or, put it in the freezer and tomorrow, it will fall into place.

dry ice works well also, half hour should do it nice.

its the rear bearing , so put the bearing in the freezer over night and it will slide right into the housing ????? sounds good thanks

To get a race on the axle you need to cool the axle and heat the race. To get a race into the housing, cool the race and heat the housing. The thing to remember is cold contracts (or makes things smaller) and heat expands (or makes things larger).

will this work for the axle seal too? the freezer part?
