Automatic Transmission for FZJ 71

Hi all

I have a 2007 FZJ 71 with 4.5 petrol engine (1FZ FE). I'm using it as a light duty daily driver because I just like how it looks.

I'm want to transform it to Auto, my plan is to use an automatic transmission off an 80 series as both have similar engines and transfere cases.

Before I start with my project I need to know if the 80's auto and 80's manual have similar external dimentions (mainly length). To answer that, I need to know if the auto 80 and manual 80 have the same propeller shafts.

Also I need to know if the 80's auto trans needs a computer or any kind of electronic management if installed on my FZ J71.

I do know the automatic transmissions in 80's (A442F & A343F) are electronically controlled. Are there no automatic FZJ71's out there?

No, the only auto was in the 1980's which had front leaf springs and different engine and drivetrain.
The FZJ 71 was never available with auto trans.

You might be better off asking the 80 forum. There maybe someone there that as converted their 80 from man to auto.

You're from venezuela, right?
as far as i know, the crankshaft has different bolt arrangements, meaning, the clutch on the FZJ-71 won't work on an 80 manual transmition.

I'm from Kuwait, but You're right the car is shipped to here from Venezuela.

Thank you for the note about the crankshaft, I will look it up and try to find a way to adapt an 80's flex plate on FZJ-71's crankshaft.
