Hi All,
Anybody have any experience with this model tach from Auto Meter. I bought it to install in my 1982 BJ42 but have been unable to get it to function. I have a good source of 12v power coming from my Solor Converter through a fuse block, a good ground, good 12v dash light source and I believe the probe on the alternator is positioned correctly over the bands. The tach is totally dead with no sign of life including no internal light when the vehicle lights are on. The only other thing I was going to try was to replace the scotch-lock connectors for the wires leading to the alternator probe with standard waterproof male/female connections but doubt that will change anything. Any suggestions before I pull everything out and send it back to Auto Meter? Thanks in advance...Greg

Scotch locks are not my favorite way of doing a connection. Preferable to do a solder connection with shrinkwrap over it.

Or bare the wire and butt splice.

Scotch locks need to be really pushed tight. I bet your problem is there.
