I looked through the manual and couldn't find anything....

I have a 99' LX and was wondering if there is a way to have the doors "auto-lock" upon shifting into drive or at some speed..?

Maybe this wasn't a common feature for cars in 1999?? I just like the security of having the door locks. (I realize pushing the lock button doesn't take any time to do, but it just isn't a habit I am used too.)

"I don't always carry my gun, but when I don't, I prefer auto-locking doors."

It is an option in my 97 4runner.
I think it is possible by running a wire through a diode (one way power) from the park-neutral-safety switch drive position to the master door lock wire. Let's an expert chime in.

You'll burn up the door lock actuators but skme folks like that feature

Pay the dealer, find someone with a techstream, or buy yourself the techstream so you can do it.

It's an option on both my 04LX and 07LC, both have it enabled.

I can't get the steps to work on my '98 from FirstToy in the FAQ:
The Manual says:

1.) close all the side doors and back door
2.) Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position
3.)within 3 seconds after the switch is turned to the "ON" position; push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the automatic transmission selector in the "P" position.

I also can't seem to find these steps listed in my '98's manual, nor did I find the settings in techstream for the '98 (I do see the settings in techstream for my '04)
