Well, G'day everyone, looks like I just bought a HZJ47...
I don't know if this should be here, or in 70 series tech. It's more 70 series than 40, but it looks like a stock 47, except for the fully boxed frame.
She was converted about 3 years ago, and consists of a HZJ75 chassis, 1HZ with Denco turbo, R151 and a Part-time case; I presume HF1A. It's stock height, 31x10.5s and so-on. Got air conditioning, power steering, 70 series tilt steering column and so-on.
I paid about what a clean HJ47 goes for around these parts. I don't know if it was a sensible buy yet or not, but I fell in love with her during the test drive, so...
I get possession of her in 8 weeks time, so looking forward to then...
Plans:
Just tidy up a couple of little things - tacho, odo and factory oil pressure gauge don't work (has aftermarket oil pressure gauge)
Install a pre-turbo EGT gauge
Got a little bit of bog in the passenger side (RHD) cowl, so would like to straighten that up, and then...
2" or 3" lift
33s or 35s - not sure yet. Part of me would like 35s, but I also prefer the less cop-attention getting appearance of 33s.
Exhaust - another conundrum... Part of me would like a 3" straight pipe from the turbo to out the right behind the cab, but for the same reasons listed regarding the tyres, maybe I should leave the exhaust alone...
A nice custom steel tray with a redgum floor
and, in my dreams: a Gturbo Grunter extreme and a water-air intercooler.
And for those who like pics...
Look forward to comments, suggestions and so-on.
Cheers

Looks like a very very nice rig. I'm in the midst now of a turbo hz hj47 troopy conversion.

And just ordered that grunter extreme.

Keep us posted

Love it, and I get to come and pick it up with you... just to make sure you know what your doing:D.

Heck, I've got 8 weeks to get mine on the road...

I'll give you a drag...

I never, ever saw a J7 column in a J4 that I liked, but that looks ace! Probs the colour combination and the later wheel. What'd they do with the a/c? Delete the compressor?

Nice looking rig mate love the 1hz with turbo they go great

Yeah, I wasn't sure about it either, but it's growing on me...
Nah, she's got an aftermarket under-dash a/c unit in it...I don't know myself in a 40 series with air conditioning and power steering...

Yeah, it goes pretty well. Hoping I can drag off my mates at the lights - 1 with a 1FZ, and more importantly, one with a 4.2 petrol GQ with a 350 holley and extractors.

Okay, I'll admit that I'd not do so well in that situation... but in the end 178,129Kms Vs. 300,000...

It must be the first time in my life that I'm beginning to get a little jealous...;)

Ok, I know, your ks are seriously low, and also, you don't have to change the timing belt every 100,000
There's no need for that, you're one of 2 that know about this, besides me...Exclusive hey?

On a more tech sort of note, I haven't got it here in front of me, but I'm told she's running the 75 wiring harness, so, does anyone have any suggestions on what I might need to make the 1HZ talk to the HJ47 tachometer?

yup, either way one day we will be on the beaten tracks together and may need each other...

If you find the tach wire in the harness you should be able to just connect them and check the tach sensor on the bell housing a lot of the time they are just missing wires

Ok, so the 1HZ should work the 2H tacho if I just connect it up? Sweet!

If this were to be sold, what would it go for? To a 'Mudder. To your old mate cult45 ;)

You wish...

I don't think its for sale just at the moment but I would consider selling for around the 13 grand mark to a mudder.
