You know that bracket that the windshield knob goes through, well the spot welds that hold it to the dash gave away on one. And the other one isn't far behind. If I tried hard enough, I could probably find someone to weld it back on for me, but. . .

Is there any reason why I shouldn't just bolt them back to the dash? There are already holes in the dash where the spot welds ripped off. All I'd have to do is drill a couple holes in the bracket and get some washers to spread out the stress around the dash holes.

I figured I'd check with the experts before I potentially ruin some brackets.

Thanks,
Felix

Felix, I am going to do just that. Putting a '73 windshield on my '66 for better defrost. My dash is all painted, so I am going to just bolt them.

Mine broke off also. Just bolted them back on with as large of a washer I could fit on each side.

Nope.

Use good hardwear, and you should not have any issues. This has been done many times before, and is how the hold downs are attached with a glass body.

Good luck!

Great, thanks everyone. I'm glad it's that simple.
