this is my 3rd atf flush now and I am facing delay engagement in reverse. I don’t understand why it’s happening after the flush!!! Never had it before.

I flushed it after feeling a thud when slowing down and I thought flushing it would solve the problem but made it worse.
Used 12 quarts ws fluid and checked the fluid level so many times but the problem still occurs.

It’s 2007 lx with 190k

Any transmission experts advice?

A full flush 'can' be a shock to the clutch plates.

Did you use Toyota fluid or an equivalent?

Does the transmission act any differently once warmed up?

Did you check the fluid per the FSM? I don't know the procedure for the 100, but on the 200 it's a whole procedure to properly check the fluid level.

i used toyota fluid 'WS'
car shifts very smooth but delayed engagement on Revers and sometimes on D as well
fluid level checked correctly as describe here WS ATF Flush Procedure

how do you check? if you do not have a dipstick? or you do?
i think complete flush around 15 something quarts, i did 12 because most of the fluid came out was clean (less than 40K)

no dipstick, overflow plug .

you most likely under the limit spec , add 1 qt and see it it improves
the over flow plug suppose to measure the level of fluid inside the AT. so basically, when u top the ATF while the car running at certain temperature, you open the over flow plug to let excess fluid out.

why would you assume i have under limit fluid?

Agree, it sounds very much like a fluid level issue. If not fluid level then I would suspect the valve body needs to be pulled and cleaned and the accumulators looked at (O-rings).

or you can do this. in the AT pan you suppose to have 4qt . if you drained only from the pan

like I said my 2001 was doing same from neutral to drive but it is 2001 , just add more see the effect you can always drain it if needed.

lets assume i added the 1 quart and fixed the issue, wouldn't excess fluid damage the AT?

LEAVE YOUR TRANNYS ALONE FOLKS!!! Stay out of it and out of its way and let it work. I have a million stinkin miles to prove it. Know when OCD is OCD.
