Can you send me the Carfax?

This may just be me but the 4 low issue is cause for concern. At the very least the potential buyer might want to know exactly whats wrong and what its going to take to fix it. Its a FWD suv, if its gonna get used, you will need 4lo. Cruise control, would want same info there too. Maybe check and see whats exactly wrong and repair costs associated with these two issues. Or maybe not, someone out there might could care less and pay your asking price without hesitation. This is just my observation, just trying to give you a buyers point of view.

The 4 low issue has been looked at by two independent Toyota shops (Lex Tech and McIntosh) and both have said the same thing. There’s a solenoid that engages four low when you hit the switch, if it doesn’t get used occasionally it will seize up and not engage. The previous owner was a road warrior (hence the high mileage) and never used 4 low. I, like 95% of suv owners, don’t do off-roading that needs 4 low so it’s never been an issue. I’ve put 15,000 miles on this truck in this condition and it’s never missed a beat. Both shops informed me there’s no adverse effect to this condition.

IF the 4 low and cruise control issues weren’t there she’d be a $20K truck. I guess I could be like a lot of sellers and not disclose these issues, but I’d prefer to offer this truck at a reasonable price as is to let someone get into a 200 series.

Dont get upset man. I was just saying what other people were probably thinking. I cant agree with you on the fact that only 5% of people in the universe that have 4 low use it, that seems awful low. With that being said your target audience here on IH8MUD might use 4Low more than your (Al Grain) real world figures. I think your truck looks sweet and I hope to own a 200 one day when I can afford one. I think its priced well too. And your Honesty is something thats hard to come by. What are they offering you on trade in? My guess is you will probably come out better private sale.

So its no longer for sale ?

Pretty odd to post it for sale, tell people you're going to hold on to it, then say it's back up for sale, then let the thread die: For Sale - 2008 LC200 BP-51 20" BFG 190K $25K

Start a new for sale thread, get upset at someone asking a question, then say it's not for sale any more? If it's for sale, great carry on. If you're not planning to sell it I'd delete the thread and just move on. No need to waste any more time here.

Another epic FS thread!

and why didnt they just swap in a new solenoid? especially if they were already paid for the diagnosis.... it seems like a cheap fix to correct a huge question mark for many people.

Hey everyone, longtime lurker and I created an account to respond. I have a 2006 100 series and was looking to step into a 200 series. These were exactly all the reasons that stopped me from moving forward with snatching this up. I also have a 4th gen 4runner with the electronically actuated 4WD and it also suffers from the "use it or lose it" failure of the shift actuator. Its about a $3000 fix on a 4runner. Things cost more to repair on a land cruiser. The problem with the vvti solenoid, I'm not sure if thats part of a bigger issue. I think something that would have calmed my nerves a bit would have been a scan of a document from the shop listing all the problems and an estimate to fix said problems. All the new threads were kind of deceptive, in fact my brother had shown me one of the newer ads, and I had to look back to find the previous ad to make sure I wasn't crazy. In all honesty, I was interested in it with all the mods, but without them and not knowing how much it may cost to fix the problems, it may be cheaper to find a 200 thats in better shape.
