I need a new battery for my 80. I don't have any extra electronics that I use regularly. But I do travel alone often and in somewhat remote areas. I have a Warn M12000 to power also. I have never used it but since i travel alone i lile lnowing ot will work if i need it. Any way I really want the 31m diehard but I can't find it in stock on the Sears page. So that has me looking at other options. A plain old autozone gold or sears platinum 27f is not bad. But those places are 3 hours away from me each way. I do have a NAPA 45 min away. Are their Legend series Batteries any good? If they are the same as the sears and auto zone might just pick one up. I might prefer to build a two batt system with two 27f over some time. It might not be much more money than a big 31m platinum anyways. Buy mostly I want to know if the NAPA battery is any good. If it aucks then I will be happy to make the drive to get something better.

Sounds like Walmart is probably not close as well, but I've been using their cheap-o MAXX battery with issue for couple years now. Warranty, cheap, easy, blah, blah. And I'm not a wallyworld shopper, just read some good feeback here on 'mud about them.

And sorry no experience with the Napa battery. Interstate battery is down the road and probably would hit them up if I had a choice.

The Napa legend get very good reviews. I have not run one personally. I have found that quality AGM batteries last a very long time as long as you don't deep discharge them. Keep them charged properly and they provide good service. Drain it dead a couple of times and they die soon after. Flooded batteries are a little more tolerant, but don't like that kind of abuse either.

Check out duralast battery at auto zone, good price for solid batterys.

Not sure about Napa batteries but you'll probably be better off with a 34R as opposed to a 27.

Walmart MAXX batteries in both cruisers, no complaints. The 62 sat for weeks at a time, sometimes more than a month and it always fired right up as if it were just shut down.

I have killed several interstate batteries and autocraP (Autocraft at autozone) batteries. Warranty coverage is good, but that wont help you much when you're out in the woods.

I personally have had issues with AGM batteries in other toyotas.... they don't seem to die a normal lead acid battery death and have caused me other kinds of issues.

I like Costco... they're a bit less expensive and have better warranties.

Watch out for a company that says it has a 36 month warranty. This doesn't mean it has a 3 year warranty. Usually this is a 6 month or 12 month replacement warranty and then after that - the cost of the battery is prorated if needing to be replaced. So if it dies at 35 months you'll get a few bucks off the new battery.

I think the 34R is a AGM which is very nice. But other than that I think it is smaller and weaker than the 27. But I could be wrong.
I would, w/out a doubt, go AGM regardless of what you get.

costco now sells interstate instead of kirkland brand. At least in my area.

Duralast is made by AGM.

AGM (absorbed glass mat) is a type of battery. Duralast is made by Johnson controls who also makes Interstate, Kirkland, Diehard and many OEM supplied auto batteries.
