I heard this forum is mad wicked...so here goes
I am looking for all those LX wizards out there. So make your mark.....

I need a wire harness for my 1998 LX470 but came across one for a 2000 LX.
The question is are these harnesses similar ? Is there a difference...

P.S.....Also looking for a harness for a 1998 LX470 please drop P.M if you have one or have pointers of where to call
Also Checked local yards (Hampton Roads VA)....

Nice one...The dealer would be a good source-------> Thanks for the input AATLAS1X

However, additionally, I am really trying to rate this forum.
Basically, whats the genius level on board here.

How hardcore is the group....everybody seems to be dealing with lifts

I plan to have this car for life and I definetely need a strong support core/group. Thats why we all joined.....

Nope, forum pretty much sucks. They only know about leather conditioner and mudflap removal. No need to get answers here :D

As for harness, I am pretty sure they are different. Join techinfo.toyota.com and you can get all the answers there. That is if you can read a wiring diagram. :D

Genius level. Let's see. Take $65k trucks, spend another $5-10k on them and take them into mud and rocks and break them. Groan, fix it, and take it back out again to break it. Yep, we don't know Sh!!t. We may not know the answers to everthigng but we're pretty good at knowing where to look. I don't have to be smart, I just need smart friends.

Puplication # EWD339U for 1998 LAND CRUISER Electrical diagram. if that helps

There we go....Come on IH8MUD......Let it all out

P.S...Don't forget i'm still looking for a 1998 LX470 engine harness

Yes, 82111-60800 is the main engine room harness part number for both 98 and 00. Besides that I don't know. I'm not going to do all of your work for you. :flipoff2:Besides, you weren't specific in your question as to which harness you needed. And welcome to IH8MUD :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Kudos ginericLC and for sure i won't let you do all the work.
--- I am refering to the main engine harness the one that connnects to the ECU in the glove compartment and sticks out through the passenger side firewall, connects to the fuel injection units to the trans and the throtle body

Thanks..I'm glad to be in the house

I see the freaks are all coming out.....

Hoser still hasn't dropped in but looks like we got the answer already.

As far as being mad wicked, I know I am I'm sorry I'll try to share the wickedness next time.:flipoff2:

ClubLexus.com is where all the real genius LX owners kick back.

It's a good question and the answer is likely here.

ToyoDIY.com

The 2000+ model has ATRAC/VSC while the 98-99's didn't have that feature. However, the 98-99's already had most, if not all the sensors in place from the AHC system (steering wheel angle sensor, brake pedal sensor, ABS sensors, etc.). Please let us know your findings.

ejike, search Waggoner's FZJ45 (or click on his signature) and you'll see how INSANELY mad wicked he is when it comes to cruisers! :D

Busted out real quick to put in this Superbowl Half-Time comment

Ohhhh.....Hoser....you weren't lying
Waggoner5 is definitely boardering Nutz...
I was tripping on the 89' FJ62 until the 65' FZJ45 came right through and took the cake.

Appreciate everyones input. I would start picking through the suggested tech sites

Actually i'll tell you how this all came about. Replacing the engine on my 98 LX with a 2000 engine, 45K from a totaled LX I managed to pick up. Since i had to pull and replace, my lazy self gave it to a shop in roanoke that mistakenly cut the harness on both cars "dumba**".... I also have working ECU from the 2000 and purchased a fully Complete harness for a 2000. Might be pushing it here...but If all sensors are in place will the VSC work if both ECU and harness are used on the 98

I am looking forward to providing feedback once its done 'cos i'm taking over all repairs as soon as i get it back.

PS. Still looking for 1998 LX main engine wire harness....Might have to add to wanted forum

It was at 145k and had a little bit of a persisting tapping sound on start up. The car belongs to family. My sister hit a dear in the blueridge mountain area in Roanoke . It was not majorly bad but needed some hood front, and front-side panel work which added up individually so i got a nastily totaled 2000LX which drove like a champ and had a clean front end. It looked like it suffered an ugly wheeling accident. The mid section was toast. The body work was already completed before the swap started. I had no complaints...... No wierd misaligned fenders or anything. You really can't tell.
Since that was done nice, also decided to swap the engine. But like i said they bungled up the swap . I moved the car to a luxury shop. This new guy has a ferrari in his waiting room and is soo down to earth. He is having me get all the needed parts so he could put in. He also pulls the LX in on a whim if i pull up. It would soon be enjoying the loving care i intend to give it. I currently have a silver 02/03 xterra with plenty accessories and tires but also had an Isuzu '90 TrooperII that was nothing like stock... all work done by yours truely

145k it was just breaking in. That tap was probbly just the exhaust manifold. How about a pic of that TrooperII. I got a weak spot for those.

Might be pushing it here...but If all sensors are in place will the VSC work if both ECU and harness are used on the 98
I'm sure there is more to it than that but not sure how much more. In any case, I'd be interested in seeing a diagram of the VSC system. Anybody with an '00+ FSM? I'll start a new thread...

Follow-up

Called dealer, Had to provide my VIN because there were a lot of part numbers for the main engine harness

For my, 98 the main engine wire harness number is
8211-60870.
This is different from that of the 2000. If it is just a case of dangling wires because of no sensors...we might give it a try until i come across one for the 98. Stealership prices were ridiculous-----But to be frank, I'll hate to start off with shady work.

The new tread on the VSC would be awesome---we'll leave it open---- I still have the totaled 2000 garaged with my in-law. I guess i would be holding on to it for all parts...a steering wheel swap would be nice for an immediate change. That should fetch me some wood grains to grip on.

I would have to dig up pictures for the trooper...and post as soon as I find them or I would try and scan the ones I come across
The trooper was so sweet that i sold it back to the person i bought it from after 2 and a half years of use and for more money.

I still think there is a good chance they are interchangeable. This is only the engine harness section though.
