I am going to pull the trigger on an ARB and install it myself but when looking at the chart it seems everything is for a 1977 and up and mine is a 76. Was there some kind of change and ARB's only work in '77 and up FJ40? could it be spline count?

Here is the link I am looking at YOTA ARB List

thanks
Dave

That's YotaMaster's list. Look in the ARB listing. The lockers are the same for 76 and 77 semi-floating rear. Fronts are the same up to 89.

Edit: Hadn't looked before, but YotaMasters list is the same as ARB.

Top line for the front, third line down for the rear. The earlier carriers used a 45mm bearing. You need to use the 50mm bearing.
Must use late model 50.00mm (1.969") ID bearings with this application. (ARB Part No. 160116)

Dave;
I have a '74 (Oct '73 Production) and I bought TJM (Air) Lockers for my FJ40.. BUT, the TJM's are for "Full Floating Axles", only..
I bought a '78 FJ40 Rear Differential as it is Full Floating.. this way, both my front & rear Lockers are the same "part/model number".
BTW, the TJM Lockers came with Nitro Chromoly Rear Axles, as well..
Charles..
