Found this on the Engel Australia web site. Don't want to argue just an FYI I came across.

"Fridge - What does the green mat in the bottom of my 32 / 40 litre fridge do?
The green mat distributes weight across the bottom of the cabinet, it protects the inner liner and allows air to flow beneath over the ribs in the floor, and yes with all new fridges you can remove the plastic wrapping it is shipped in."

Correct, the green pad sits under the basket so as not to damage the bottem of the fridge.
Where did anyone get the idea that its a divider in the middle of the fridge?
Probably a good way to damage a new fridge doing this to it.
