Aqualu tub and OEM one piece tailgate (1 Viewer)

I have an Aqualu tub on my 40 and am going to be using an OEM one piece tailgate.

My question is how to deal with the hinges.

The gate has hinges where the tub-side has 2 bolt holes, one over the other. The rear sill on the tub is a bit too narrow to let both of these bolts hit the sill. I'd like to keep the stock hinges.

I'd like to know if anyone else has this combo of tub and gate and how they solved the hinge issue.

Plug weld the holes on the hinges and drill new holes to fit the tub.
