Whenever I want to turn off the AC, I also have to turn off the fridge. (I sometimes smoke in the car and turning off ventilation helps reduce the smoke smell) Is it possible to unlink the units. Im pretty sure the fridge has its own condenser unit. Last I heard we have 3 AC units in the car.

Fridge and AC are independent in my rig...the button for the fridge or "cooler box", is separate and I don't think needs the AC on.

If you are a smoker, try windows cracked and floor and defrost on high. Gets rid of the smell better than anything else.

What fridge? the center cool box? It is not really a fridge..just something to keep drinks cool. It is directly connected to the a/c and I don't believe we have more then 2 a/c blowers....one A/C unit, although I can be wrong.

Chimyz....you sure it can run independent? I can be wrong...I haven't used it since the first month I got her. It is a place for my pa system and other various things :)

Oh for the smoke smell......stop smoking and it will stop smelling.....

If that is not an option...then stop smoking in the truck. Same result

you have to have the A/C on inorder for the fridge to work...

Oh! While in CO mountains this summer, I was curious as to why I couldn't turn off my AC. Now I know why, the cool box was on. The cool box is awesome for road trips. Not so great other times.

Thanks for the replies. I have learned that air circulation on off is the best with windows open. That way the cabin filter stays smoke free. The cooler box is colder than my fridge. I once had a cooler box in my other car. That was definitely a cooler box. It barely lowered the drinks temps to cool. Our LC200 fridge makes a frosty brew in about 20 minutes. Faster than my fridge at home.

the fridges in our LC work really well... At the ocean a month back and had a sixer of warm beers, no prob, threw them in the fridge and they were ice cold in less than 20 minutes, I (the LC) became the hero of the day:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

Now that I think about it, I've never turned my a/c off...when I do the damn rig fogs up or something. Even when heat is on its on.

@Kreiten: Neat trick I learned in college. Wrap each beer in a soaked paper towel. Cools about twice as fast. Dont ELI5 me for an explanation, I havent a clue.

I'll give it the old college try sir!

Evaporation! The faster you can evaporate something the lower the temp will go. Its an old trick that you can also employ by wrapping a can of beer in a wet towel and placing on the bonnet of you car and driving off down the road. The water in the outer layers of the towel evaporate quickly in the wind, rapidly cooling the inner wet layers and thereby the can of beer at centre. (Works pretty good until the first bend in the road :) )
