It'll crack. Don't waste your money.

Downey offered them for years...

i have one that came from Downey ,it has the cf 3037 on it . just like the pic . hasn't cracked yet guess i don't wheel hard enough . but the bottom edge has been all scraped and gouged up ,still no leaky . one day i may whack it and split it  :grinpimp:

This one has "CF" on the outer flange. It may be an old Confer unit.

log on to wicksaircraft.com, they have a very good explanation of the different alloys and heat treatments... but i thought aluminum used a four diget id.

what does this mean ,info for 356 aluminum ,used for wheels ,engine blocks ,transmission cases . you got me thinking about the strength of it now .

Tension - Ultimate Strength (2)) psi 33,000
Tension - Yield Strength (set 0.2%)psi 24,000
Tension - Elongation %in 2" 3.5
Compression - Yield (3) Strength (set 0.2%)psi 25,000
Hardness - Brinell(2)500kg load 10-mm Ball 70
Shear - Shearing strength psi 26,000
Fatigue - Endurance(1) limit psi 8500

i dont know about that....somthing like your diff cover i wouldnt trust to aluminum, but thats just my opinion, im sure they could take some scrapes and dings but....i just dont trust aluminum as much as i do steel...

If you already got it might as well wheel it. If it breaks get a steel one. Be a pointless waste of cash not to use it.
