Anyone know if the lift gate glass is still available (w/defroster)?

1987 FJ60 - doing a repaint soon and will replace the glass as well. Front windshield, easy - check. Did an online search for the lift gate glass - nothing. Hoping the lift gate & all side glass is still available. Any of u guys have any tips/knowledge?

Thanks-

Shane

ps - Onur: If need be, I'll make a trip to see you to pick these up if u can put yr hands on a set (minus the front windshield). Thanks. . .

I've hot a couple of good used upper and lower tailgates.

Not sure how much if a hurry you're in but I can bring one to the roundup in early march.

Georg-

Thank you and yr offer is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to find new glass - any and/or all available for the 60 re-do.

Try Jason over at CruiserYard or give Charles a call at Northshore Toyota or the parts dept at Lakeside.

Mike-

Thanks for the heads-up. One of my neighbors owns a glass company - duh - and I'll try him in the morning. Lakeside's doing a re-key on a set of locks/ignition for me at the moment (woo hoo). I'll let you know what I find re new available glass. BTW - met Rob this morning. Great guy and invited him to the BR meet.

Related question. Had two 60's in the show a while back. Both with leaking rear windows. Still had factory gasket with chrome. Both were glued in the inside as well the outside with the same blackish tar sealant. Those of you that have removed the rear glass have you come across the sealant? I just want to know so the next time I get a new gasket even though the old one is just fine. From what I could tell the sealant was the culprit to the leaks.

Shane, what color did u finally decide to go with?

No sealant on my '62 rear hatch glass, and it had already been replaced once by the PO.

Mine does not leak water, either, and I removed and reinstalled the glass for some rust repair last summer.

Anvil Green =) I have to try it b/c if I don't, I'll hate not doing as such more than I'll potentially hate the color change.

Are you using me? Haaaaaaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha

 ;)

Still available, and (shocking, I know) in stock. :)

All glass is available and in stock - or just the rear hatch? And yes. . .regardless. . ."in stock" is always a shocker, lol.

Very reasonable for a nice piece of Asahi Glass.

List: $488.03

MUD: $366.02

Shipping this safely would be tough. Local pick up only.

Rear glass is in my warehouse.

So many opportunities for 'you know how I know you're gay' in that sentence. . .but I know I'll be one-shot too many in Atlanta in the near future, and don't want to wakeup with half of my head shaved/sharpie eyebrow, mustache, tattoos, hahahahahahahahaha.

I've been twisting up my reslove to buy one of those new rear windows so I can finally get my rear defogger working. All those conductive paints just don't work very well... And Beno's price isn't bad. I paid more than that for my stinking made-in-Mexico VW golf TDI rear window.

Yes, we all need a good piece of glass :rimshot:

This is a smart move, especially if you're going to tint your windows...I used the original glass when I got mine tinted..now I can see some scratches that were in the glass that you couldn't notice before. :bang:

I might end up switching it out in the spring or something...will just have to make sure I'm near AZ so that I could pick it up.

yes...very common for glass shops to apply "urethane" (liquid black tar) to attempt to seal glass windows/windshields...etc, comes in a tube that fits a caulk gun or may come in smaller pkgs too.
