Hey folks, a knucklehead clipped the right rear of my 1992 HZJ73, and it’s looking like the best fix may be a rear door. It’s a JDM truck with the full height doors. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I have no idea why this forum posts the photo 90º from the actual EXIF orientation. Any tips?

Did that bumper swing out being connected to the door cause that? I’m contemplating that bumper but not sure if same would happen from hitting a rock or something?

worst comes to worse, looks like you can get a new one for $800-1100 (I just used PN:67005-60260/67005-60250) via Amayama/Megazip/Partsouq, which to me seems super reasonable for such an old car. Take that to your insurance and get the guy at fault to fork it out. Probably try and get all new hardware too.

Did that bumper swing out being connected to the door cause that?

I'm also curious about if the swing arm caused it, I guess it's a necessary risk in order to not deal with swing out levers.

Welp, my search for a door was already hijacked... Yes, it’s a result of the spare tire on the bumper spindle being connected to the door. However, and this is a BIG however, airborne Alfa Romeos are definitely NOT a typical use case. You will be more than fine against any trails with this bumper.

In the photos below, you can see my spare tire marks at a 45º angle above where his gas tank cap used to be. They’re at a 45º angle because when he hit me, his front wheels were about 3-4 feet in the air, and the rear wheels had just left the ground after hitting the curb. He clipped me, and then took down the light pole.

So, does anyone have a spare right back door? :)

Also, the best place to source parts from Japan is Dave Stedman who owns Japan4x4 in Japan. He is a total Cruiserhead, and has a direct relationship with Toyota. He’s the best, and won’t ever sell you stuff you don’t need.

Troopy doors are taller than all other 70s.
I believe MWB and SWB rear doors are the same but I'm not 100% on that. If so, any other rear door would fit and are available to purchase via Dave at Japan4x4. He can verify fitment as well. Since Mr. Quadrifoglio's insurance is paying, I'd go that route along with all new hardware/seals/ect.

Thanks yeah, I’ve been talking to Dave. This is a tough door to find...
