Bill let me check with my brother he works in the AC world.

fairly certain that it is a simple and cheap conversion. instead of using r12 they now use r134a. when i worked at Kragen from what i saw i think its just a different nozzle and you can buy the self refil kit that comes witht he nozzle conversion adapter for somewhere around 30 bucks, that includes the big can of new coolant junk. definately just go down and look and ask.

Bill I checked with my brother he said there are two ways to do it you can just go to an auto store and buy the kit or he recommends draining the compressor oil ( which may require removing it ) and pulling a negitive vaccum on the unit to keep moisture out of it and then adding the new oil "Ester" is the brand name he gave me, then adding your refridgerant. Apparently when the moisture gets in there it can freeze when the unit is running and will make it cycle on and off more than it should.

Hope this helps
