I have seem a few 80's have that kind of mileage, but not a 100 yet. If you have one, what have you done so far to keep it up in top condition.

I just bought one with 192K, now over 195K, so I'm close. I converted to synthetic when I got it, runs great, fan cluch is noisy and will be replaced. That's my only beef.

I bought my '98 new and have logged over 229,000 miles, although none of it hard core off roading, there has been alot of sand, mud and West Texas mini-rocks. I experienced a fuel pump failure shortly over 100K (IIRC), have one electric window inoperable and another that acts a little funny. Replaced battery, O2 sensors, antenna mast and fuel cap once. And the D light on the dash is out. I was very late on the 90K service (I'm too ashamed, don't ask) and did a new fuel pump at that time. Other than that, all I have done is routine with frequent oil changes with synthetic.

I don't think that the "D" light is supposed to light up, in the dash.

What does the fan clutch noise sound like?

In my vehicle, once it comes to a rest for a while, there is a clicking sound that is heard for about a minute before it quiets down. Could that be it? It happens whether it is hot or cold and after a minute of driving or so, it goes away.

No, no clicking, it is more like a scraping, and it is fairly loud. I figured it out by having my wife shut down the engine, so the engine stops and the fan clutch releases and it slowly comes to a stop, so that is how I isolated the noise. I was pretty relieved, because I thought it was a bearing or pulley. But the fan clutch is pretty easy and not a worry, just annoying. I'm going to take it off this weekend and see if I can figure out why it is so noisy, it is operating fine. I am also going to look and see if it is serviceable.
