Anyone consider importing a LC to the US?....This 2020 is seemingly 53k after fees!

From what I understand you need to be aware of a few things, depending on where you live. One is the outside of California you can often import a vehicle that is 25 years old or older(these would be called Grey-market) vehicles. Blackmarket vehicles (vehicles not approved for the US, and in violation of the various market restrictions, as well as safety and emissions) can get crushed. You can research what happened to a bunch of land rovers back in the day where people could buy them cheaper in other places and import them. California is a little special but still possible with emissions. Now, that being said, I know of a couple people who have registered vehicles, toyota hilux, in the US and according to their state, it is legally registered, but may not be legal at the federal level and may be confiscated if anyone gets bored enough to go after it. You can get newer vehicles here, but many are on a 1 year limited time and have to leave after that point.

I hope this helps, and it would be great if you imported something and documented the whole process for others who are also interested.

Sounds like very solid points to take in consideration, so I thank you! That being said I have no real interest in the vehicle, just thought a LC for a 30k discount might be worth it to someone. But it certainly wouldn't be worth much to me if I couldn't drive it!

That truck looks to be EX-R spec (or equivalent). My guess is it has the V6, definitely cloth interior, no radio. That level of 200 series sells at that price point pretty much everywhere in the world (you can get LHD versions new in Dubai for instance). You could probably save a bit more getting a STD trim model. Diesel, stick, bar doors, vinyl floor/seats.

VIN has URJ202 so it's going to be a 4.6L V8 (1UR-FE) I don't think any version of the 200 has a V6. Not that it really matters since it is basically impossible to import this to the US.
