anyone change out the factory 24v alt for different one?

I have a bad factory alternator, lookin for upgrade ideas , do not want to foot a huge bill, anyone know of vacume pumps and 24v alternators that could be instaled , i have no prob making bracketry , but i have had little luck on info locating this info though google ? Figure i could get a bigger alt(off of what i do not know) and another vac pump of som other car.

any ideas are aprechiated.

If your vacuum pump is okay, the most common problem is the brushes. They are cheap and easy to fix.

There are numerous commercial (truck or equipment) applications that use 24V alts.

Vacuum pumps can be had from Ford diesels and others. You may be able to source a vacuum pump at a performance parts store for hi-po gas engines that produce too little vacuum for proper brake operation.
