Anyone care to weigh in on switching to synth motor oil after 120k?

I have switched all of my drive train fluids except the engine & tranny to synthetic. I have always been torn about switching on older vehicles due to the potential of leaking.

Also, for those who might prefer conventional oil, do you change at 3k? It seems to me that more people are thinkng this is wasteful and unnecessary. I have always changed between 3-4k for normal driving conditions.

What do you think?

Search, its been beat to death here.
Be prepared to address leaks.
Some do some don't but most seem to have slow leaks when switching.
Usually front crank shaft seal or rear arch.

has anyone who previously had leaks- and then switched to Mobile 1 found that the mobile1's seal sweller additive cleared up leaks after the switch?????

People are goimg to think that I am crazy, but I have been using Mobil 1 Extended performance 10w-30 (filter as well) for about two years along with a bottle of Lucas synthetic oil treatment. And I change the oil every 12-15k miles (or atleast when oil is black). Keep in mind that I put about a 120 miles a day. My LC is a 92 with 197k miles on it and no leaks good oil pressure, plus saw small increase in power as well as mileage.

OK. So I did not search as I should have in the first place. Sorry. I tried to delete this thread after I searched later. However, one thing is for sure, no matter how extensively this and any other topic is covered somewhere else, a new perspective can always be interjected into the new thread. Thanks to all who replied and once again, sorry for the clutter!
