Any way to force "recirculate air" to stay on? (1 Viewer)

The "recirculate air" option is constantly automatically switching to external air. This happens when I shut the LX off and start it up again, and also sometimes while driving (despite me not touching any climate options). This drives me nuts because the place I live in has a million diesel trucks, and they are all modified and spewing insane amounts of crap into the air, which promptly ends up in my cabin and nostrils.

So... any way (techstream?) to prevent the LX from leaving the "recirculate air" option by itself?

In 8 1/2 years of ownership I have not yet found a way to "lock" the recirc option on my 2013 LC200. If anyone has found the trick, please post up.

On my 2009 I have recirc/auto/fresh. It only switches automatically if I set for Auto

I've got the same thing, and it sure as heck leaves recirc without being in 'auto'.

That would be frustrating. It drives me nuts when I can smell someone smoking while at a light. Need a HEPA or alike filter for the fresh air function.

Step 1. Put vents into fresh air mode
Step 2. Open cabin filter panel
Step 3. Yank up on the recirc door until you hear it snap
Step 4. Enjoy constant recirc mode!

Just kidding.

EDIT - Hopefully no one will think I'm serious. You should NEVER do the steps listed above.

Bosch makes a HEPA filter for our application but it can be a little tough to find. 6055C per my notes. Cigarette smoke and NOx (the primary actual smelly part of diesel exhaust) will go right through it though.

I keep mine in recirc mode, and it stays there as long as you don’t press the defrost option (or the foot&defrost option).
im not really sure what the auto function even does here.

Also, here’s a doozy... my Micro dust and pollen filter button works if I have it in fresh air mode.... Unless the recirc door secretly closes and then opens again after 3 minutes.

I set mine in recirc mode and ran it all day off-roading in dust today. We stopped multiple times turning off the vehicle. It never switched from recirc once. Has been that way since I bought it a year and a half ago. It should never change on its own unless in Auto. The whole point of having auto as a separate setting.

Ha! I came here to post “take it in for an oil change at the dealer” that’ll do it.

That’s what the dealers have been doing for us all along!

On my 2011. Under Setup~Vehicle~Vehicle Customization~Climate Settings.

Then find “Efficient Ventilation Mode” and turn it off. Then whatever you left your setting on, it stays there. Even when you hit Auto again, it’s not changing a thing with your recirculating function.

Side note, if you also don’t like when you hit “auto,” and your A/C turns on. You can keep that to the last setting you had by turning off “Auto A/C Mode” in the same selection. No need for tech stream.

Found it on day one of ownership and never looked back.

This just might be the ticket!

Will try it out the next time I'm in the car.

So, my '14 LX does not have an 'efficient ventilation mode' option.

I did turn off 'auto a/c mode'. Will see what that results in.

Anyone know what the heck 'smog sensor sensitivity' option does?

// edit:

"When in AUTO recirculation mode, the sensor will determine when to switch from outside air to recirculated air based on outside air quality"
