thanks for the link

what about your wheelin rigs do you have to have plates on them or can you have off road only trucks ??? are the area to wheel state parks ??? or can you pull up with a trailer and go for it ??

I lievd in Stocktn my wole life and MAnteca 6 years. Modesto wsa 10 minutes. Just like fresno, but more expensive and not as hot.

best whelling on the planet is 70 minutes around

anyone got info on off road only trucks ???

Your best bet s togo up HWY 4 towards Bear Valley and you will want ot look for Boards Crossing road just outside of Arnold. It will be on your left. You can drive that for about 7 miles and cross a few small rivers. After a time it will hit dirt raod and you can off-load there and travel the old forest service roads or PGE roads for days and never see anyone. Once you get past the first water crossing, you are good to go on OHV rigs as longas you art acting like a fool. Then you can head up since it is a bit of a drag towing something on a steep twisty dirt road.

We call them Green Sticker Vehicles here. All OHV either have to be street legal and registered as such or have a Green Sticker to be operated on Government owned land.

do you have to pass and inspection for a green sticker and is a pricey as a on road truck or would I be better off leavein both 60's here and statin over with a CA truck :frown: how close to Modesto are you D ???

A green sticker is pretty easy to get. I believe that you have to show proof that you own the parts and they are not stolen. If you have it reqistered or a off highway registration in another state, that might make it easier. Modesto is pretty centrally located, and you are about 2 hours from shaver lake where the dusy and lots of other good trails are, and about 3.5 hours from the con

Look for a town south of Fresno called Visalia on a MAP. I'm 22 miles east of there on hwy 198.

For info on Salida, CA. Call Bob at Flory Industries in Salida. Tell him you know Dan from STIHL and that I asked you to give him a call. He will give you the rundown on where not to live, best school district, etc.

No Modesto is only 2.5 from Tahoe so depending on which way you are heading from or to Loon Lake, could be about 2 hours.
