Hi Guys

I am going to Europe to get some more Cruiser parts and I received a tip on where to find a nice 1986 BJ75 that has been stored dry for many years with around a 100K miles on the 3B/H55 combo. It has power steering but NO A/C and when I spoke to the owner he mentioned there where a few tiny surface rust spots and he seemed to be an honest seller recommended by another good honest person ,so no reason to doubt this.

If I bring it I will probably use it for a while until the HZJ73's are legal to import because that is what I am waiting for.

Considering the fact that trucks get the 25% import duty vs the much cheaper rate vor suv's and cars I am trying to determine what my top $$ amount is I can pay for this without loosing money when I put it up for sale here in a while.

I am looking for a real value,so nothing like when my 70 sold when I received a lot of comments like "if I knew it was only gonna be this much I would have bought it" :(

My 70 was for sale for a month and I did loose money on it,not wanting to repeat this with the next one but I can't find any references to BJ75 pu sold in the us

I think they are really cool and will probably bring it anyway but just carefully trying to find out a value.

I do not have any pics now and the only way pics will be showed is after I bought it,I am not gonna post a car that belongs to a private person who has not listed it for sale.

Thanks

Joe

Troopy or Pickup? Not overly familiar with the BJ powered HJ75's but from my experience the HJ75's ain't cheap.

Pick up , there are a few Troopys for sale but they are either really rough and at dealers or super nice overland rigs and priced from 20K euro and more because of the extra's on them.

I prefer the 3B over a 2H because the 3B feels more lively to me.Neither of them are powersleds but both will get you where you need to be.

2H motors are not very common in Europe ,I believe there are more 12HT 60's around here then 2H powered ones.

Pseudo hijack...no idea on value but are you taking part requests to bring things back?

I use to feel that way until I drove a freshly rebuilt 2H. ;)

Not really taking parts request as such, but I am on the lookout for a few things for fellow Mud members,I will only be 2 weeks there and got lots to do.

I am visiting some specialised used parts dealers and can bring some stuff over depending what you are looking for,no a/c systems ,power window stuff or any other option that was hard to get on a Euro version truck, also rust free bodys do not exist in this part of Europe so please do not ask me for this.

Just looking for rear doors. Rust is ok as long as it's not completely rotting, needs to be repairable. Looking to make a pair of half doors.

Thanks for considering

Joe,

There was a late model, recently importable (assuming '89) BJ75 in Canada a few months back that had been "restored" with a craptastic looking homemade bed for ~$13k USD.

If memory serves, had a new cab and was listed as 4 speed, which I thought odd.

I've looked for the link in the 70 specific classified forum, but can't find. Having canvassed earth for anything 70, can't say where I may have found listing, but do now a Canadian source, which is close to the US. :)

Recall seeing a decent roller with body and interior (drivetrain robbed for a vintage conversion) back in the Profitt's days ('10-'11?) for around $8k.

I drooled over, since it would've been a cool conversion like I'm planning now. Very clean, but far from perfect.

One would think $12-15k for a decent running base to start a build from would be easy enough to assume viable, just because they're rare, but may be rationalizing my own endeavors and, like any, rot, or lack thereof, would dictate valuation.

I can't believe the red 70 did no better on eBay, but, honestly and already said, had I known who was selling, I'd have been more interested in the eBay sale, since in at the early stage.

I understand your reasoning for the way you conducted the sale, but the alarm bells sound when something that rare shows up on eBay and not Mud, same way the Pigs do. Of course, I have been badly burned on a Pig bought outside of Mud.....AND from a Mudder, so not any real insurance policy....,.BUT I "know" you, and it'd be in my driveway right now.....and the 3B/H55/BF1A listed in Classifieds, right now. :)

I'm not privy to all things 7X, yet, but do follow the marketplace, like one would any other. It seems that BJ7X prices have plateau'd, even dropped some, and I speculate that's due to the short amount of time before HZJs are importable.

I'd still think a BJ75 truck would be cool and marketable, and would think a clean runner would being $12-15k on the low end.

Yes , I drove a HJ75 with a newly rebuilt 2H by the mechanic owner and it was quite good, much better than a 3B.
The 2H feels like it has a broader, smoother powerband,I guess its the 6 cylinders

Nevermind this tread....landed today, called the guy......and found out it sold yesterday.

Probably to someone that knew I was coming......bad bad Cruiser Karma :(
