Any half bumper (slimline/ winch) options for the 200?

Either way, it looks really nice, but obviously still has the inherent issues that come with a hidden winch (which shouldn't be a huge issue for occasional use).

I can confirm that is not the case. Access to the clutch and winch line spooling visibility is poor with a true hidden winch mount because everything is completely hidden behind the factory plastic. The Rhino has extremely easy access to the clutch and the spool - I've pulled cable 2x in the last couple weeks actually.

You can see large cutouts on both sides of the winch here:

And large cutout for access on top:

Even with the light bar I have on my 13, access is no problem at all:

I had the full ARB front bumper on another prior 200, and it was MUCH harder to access the clutch than the Rhino and offered essentially zero visibility onto the line:

It also required a camera relocation that was off center and was quite annoying actually:

There have been some group buys in the past, or at least one, and I think there was ordering/contact information in the thread.

Looks like rhino 4x4 of Africa have, within the past couple weeks, posted photos of this bumper on a 2008-2011 lx570.

anyone know if there’s an easy way to get one in the United States?
There are threads on ordering the Rhino 4x4 bumper to US. I think most do it through the Argentinian branch (possibly the home office) and they will ship directly to you. I believe there is also one for sale in classifieds right now. Big discount on that one. If I had the fab skills of the guy who did the silver LX or a bottomless wallet to pay someone to copy it, I'd be all over that.

Any idea on the weight gain difference stock vs ARB vs Rhino?

Thanks for the comments and additional photos showing the access. The photos that had been shown so far made it appear as though it was a fully hidden winch. This looks like a really nice option all around.

hey @mcgaskins could you please comment on how the bumper compares to stock? I’ve seen conflicting info that it’s steel vs aluminum. Wanted to know what you make of it and if there are any changes to driving dynamics?

thanks!

Get comfy and check out these links which will answer every question you have about the bumper. I detailed everything from why I choose it (twice), the other options I considered, the install, the performance, and lots more. Some more detail can be found in my Ruby build thread linked in my signature, but these 2 threads are more focused on the Rhino:

I was part of the group buy and we ordered through Rhino in Australia. Paid over the phone, few weeks later FedEx delivered to my driveway. Effortless. Might be worth trying them instead.

I personally am not a fan of the center section only bumpers. They are certainly trendy at the moment but I’m under the opinion that if you need the winch as well as the protection in the center eventually you are going to wish you had some more clearance and side protection. That being said the lc200 really does not give any factory lines to cut the center only out of the plastic. We have actually played around with our 3D scan and could not come up with anything that we felt looked good.
We do feel our low profile to be a good compromise. Our new full replacement bumper actually blends well when color matched. @Eric Sarjeant just installed one on his blue lc200 and it looks great.
I do like the rhino bumper but it’s a bit to rounded for my personal taste.
All that being said we are actually working on a new low profile bumper that is being 100% designed for the lc200 and I think will be a good option. The original low profile is basically a lc 100 bumper. While it actually fits pretty well it can certainly be improved on. The new low profile is going to look a bit more like our lx570 specific bumper. I also feel this new bumper with a color match will blend in extremely well. we should have photos soon!

One of the things I keep coming back to on aftermarket fronts is the “crumple zones” that some manufacturers have, like ARB. It would seem that in a wreck or animal strike with a “non-crumple zone bumper,” the frame (and passengers) would take a load possibly not seen with a stock or aftermarket bumper with a crumple zone, increasing the chances of a bent frame, or worse.

Is that line of thinking accurate? Or are there other design elements in Dissent bumpers that account for this?

Are there any pictures of the Dissent LX570 bumper on a pre facelift model (08-11)?

It is damn shame the Rhino for 2009-2015 200s does not fit very nicely. They clearly improved the fit for 2016+ years.

That is correct however a crumple zone like arb uses is not the only way to go about it. Our frame brackets are designed to crumple before the frame. We place strategic cutouts in both the bumper and the brackets that will allow the bumper to absorb the impact in a high speed collision but will allow low speed impacts and winching without issues.
