Let us pig owners know how it goes with insurance. That's one of my concerns driving an older, but top shape vehicle. Book value for any of my vehicles is WAY lower than I'd ever sell for.

I keep thinking appraisal but I keep procrastinating, partly because I can't get a straight answer from my insurance company if they'd accept an appraised value (in B.C. we have only ONE choice for auto insurance "Take it or leave it!" with ICBC).

Not parting out yet. I would still like to get another 55 so I will use what I need first.;)

Not on Ebay, I have owned this truck for about 6 years.

I'll keep you guys posted about the insurance.

theres some decent ones out there, there was a fair V8 55 in Redding cheap, Mace has the contact info, 1000bucks

no financial connection to them!
you might consider J.C. Taylor antique auto insurance in the future...the pig is in that vintage category and they are much more reasonable on rates and appraisals; they will insure it for its appraised value with a letter from an expert in that field <guess lots of experts here on MUD> that would be willing to write one........blue book values suck...

That's kinda wierd because I had a blue and white 76 and I got T-boned on the passenger side. I had my blinker on and the guy tried to pass me on the inside so it was clearly his falt! But the sawed off little Barney Fife sheriff wrote it up as a NO FAULT!:mad::mad: That was like 14 yrs ago and I'm still not over it!

The damage wasn't quite as bad as yours but it bowed up the floor and bent in the door so bad it couldn't be opened. We could barely open the back door.
I just happen to have some old Polaroid pics....sorry about the quality it was long before digital.

Sorry to See that Happen, loved to see you on the road with it,
I hope you can rebuild it

Thanks for the support guys. Nothing new yet to report. I am still looking for a "new" pig though. I will put something in the wanted section. If you know of anything, please let me know. I prefer something within a few hundred mile radius of the SF bay area but I am also open to others if its right. Diesel anyone??:D

Damn, I was just down in Pasadena two weeks ago. I saw that one a few days ago on traderonline. I had written it off as being too far right now but it is starting to look good.

Have you looked at it? I may just keep looking. There is another one down your way, but the price is getting up there. It does have AC though. Its pretty tough to go that far to just kick some tires.

Or I could just get this one.

I have glanced at the 55 in Yucaipa, its a nice truck, but I have not fine tooth combed it, you want me to take a hard look at it? its about five miles from me.

I have a few more. You can see how bad the floor is buckled. The motor and drivetrain shifted and put a dent in the hood. What you cant see is that the front axle and tire was pushed into the steering box and frame. I can see the rub marks where contact was made. The spring hangers are also bent and the fan broke all of its blades when it tore through the radiator. Thats all for now. I dont even want to go out there and get in deeper. Just waiting to get things sorted out with the insurance.
That sure is a sad sight. If you were here in Pakistan, this could have been fixed in 5 days at 1/5th of the cost it will take in the US.
