I will be removing the factory rack on my Cruiser this weekend and have read through the past threads regarding what to do. I am planning on drilling out the screw heads with a #11 bit and will be plugging the holes with stainless 10/32 srews and sealing washers (after I wet sand the rust that I am sure will be there).

My question is how long of a screw should I get - 3/4" or 1". Or does it really matter that much. Any info would be great. Thanks

I'd think the 3/4 would be better than the 1". Short enough to get the job done and nothing more. No reason to risk poking the headliner.
