Have read all the posts I could find on the PWR button but haven’t found this particular problem. So I turn to the gurus here.

I have a new to me 04 LC (160,000) where the PWR button moves freely, and the ECT light comes on when I press it, so I know it’s connected, but the button won’t stay engaged. It pops back up and the light turns off.

The start in second button works just fine.

Any thoughts? Guessing my next step is pull the center console but I’m a virgin at that. If I do it I’m hoping to have an idea of whether it could be fixable.

Btw, dealership said no one has these buttons in stock and Toyota may be no longer supporting. The mechanic didn’t want to dive in and find himself unable to replace.

Thanks in advance for any ideas! This website is full of heroes.

Thanks to each of you. Unfortunately I wasted your time and I’m truly sorry. :-( This evening, I decided to jab the button hard... turns out it was just a bit sticky and wasn’t being depressed all the way. Doh! Works perfect now. Maybe this is a lesson for others. Don’t immediately freak out. Many problems are very simple to fix.

In my best Emily Litella (SNL) imitation... “never mind!”
